Benefit Programs and Compensation Administration By: Janelle Bartlett Professor Rhonda Hess October 28th, 2012 Benefits and Compensation Introduction Employee benefits are one of the most driving measures for obtaining qualified employees. It is important for organizations to provide employees with not only hourly or salary wage but also other benefits that can make them more desirable to well qualified individuals. Organizations must be able to communicate all of the benefits to current and prospective employees clearly enough for them to understand exactly what is offered. Government Regulated Benefits The government is there to help protect employees for many reasons, things such as workerââ¬â¢s compensation, unemployment, andâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦While I did say that only the doctors are awarded fringe benefits, this is not necessarily true. Hygienists, dental assistants, and even the front desk staff that hold certificates are awarded the added benefit of free renewals for licenses and so forth. They are also awarded free seminars that are necessary for updating licenses and certificates. These seminars not only provide the necessary credits for yearly or by-yearly updates, but also new means of how tasks should be carried out. As healthcare professionals, we are responsible for obtaining current methods of practice for carrying out tasks. Items such as infection control and patient confidentiality are an ongoing task. With patients/peopleââ¬â¢s concerns with what infectious diseases can conjure it is only natural that people would be concerned about. Patient confidentiality is another on going concern. Communication Process of Compensation Benefits The current communication of benefits provided to our practices employees is a bit vague, but still understood by all. They do not hold yearly meetings or anything of the sort, but old postings are around the office justifying the initial benefits provided. These are still upheld , with the added benefit that they are ââ¬Å"oldâ⬠, all employees realize it up to the treating doctor to determine whether employee family members are to receive treatment at no cost or a discounted cost. Question: Discuss about the Sodium Levels Increases. Answer: Introduction: Digoxin specifically acts by inhibiting sodium-potassium adenosine triphosphatase (Na+/K+ ATPase) in the myocardium. As a result, intracellular sodium levels increases which produces sodium and calcium reverse exchange through sodium-calcium exchanger. In healthy situation, 3 sodium ion exchanges for 1 calcium ion. Due to this reversal, more calcium ions get imported for actiin and myosin proteins. This increase in the intracellular calcium increases heart rate. As a result there is increase in the duration of the phase 4 and phase 0 of the cardiac action potential. Digoxin is specifically used for atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter and infrequently used for the treatment of heart failure. There is insufficient diastolic filling time due to increased ventricular rate. Digoxin is helpful in reducing this ventricular rate by reducing conduction rate in AV node and results in the increase in the refractory period. It results in the augumentation in the filling and augumentation in t he pumping activity of the heart. Digoxin also act by indirectly acting on the autonomic nervous system. It produces autonomic actions by producing vagomimetic action and baroreceptor sensitization. Vagomimetic action increases effect of digoxin on SA and AV node. Baroreceptor sensitization produces augumented afferent inhibitory activity and decreased sympathetic nervous system and rennin-angiotensin system activity (Ziff and Kotecha, 2016).. Frusemide is mainly used to treat edematous condition due to cardiac failure, liver scarring and renal disease. Mechanism of action of frusemide is similar to other loop diuretics like bumetanide, ethacrynic acid and torsemide. It produces its action by inhibiting Na+-K+-2Cl symporter (cotransporter) (NKCC2) in the thick ascending limb of loop of Henle. As a result, there is inhibition of reabsorption of sodium, chloride and potassium. This inhibition of reabsorption can be achieved by competing with Cl binding site. Potassium recycling through renal outer medullary potassium channel results in the positive lumen voltage gradient which leads to the reabsorption of the magnesium and calcium. By virtue of this, frusemide prevents generation of hypertonic renal medulla. As a result, water has minimal osmotic driving force which lead to the augumented urine production. There is decreased water reabsorption in the blood due to action of frusemide and decreased blood volume. Frusemide also acts by increasing the generation of prostaglandins which produces vasodilatation and augumented blood supply to the kidney. There is the possibility of fluid retention in cases of heart failure, liver cirrhosis and renal failure. Frusemide act by increasing the urine excretion as a result there is removal of fluid form the body (Lilley et al., 2015). For removing peripheral intravenous cannula following steps should be followed. Inform patient about little discomfort. Gloves and apron should be put on and hands should be disinfected. Old dressing should be removed. Area should be disinfected. Cannula should be kept in situ. Gauze should be folded to create absorbent pad. Gauze should be kept on the cannula insertion site. Cannula should be withdrawn and gentle pressure should be applied on the insertion site. This gentle pressure should be continued until bleeding stopped. Answer: Introduction This essay explains the relation between culture and diversity and how the cultural diversity affects the community. Its very important to understand the impact of culture and diversity in the community. A deep understanding of the culture is very important for explaining this issue. Culture can be understood as the identity of a group of people, city, state or country. The first thing in the discussion of any country or community is the culture. Culture describes the behaviour and nature of the community(Brown, 2013). Understanding the value of culture is really important for better and strong community. For a community to be successful, a large number of people from different cultures have to work together. Thus, a good relation among the people is very important for a community or country. Diversity is the differences in the cultures of the people working together in the community or country. The diversity can be of various types, like language, thought and values etc. It is really important to manage those diversities for any community (Lavins, 2002).. These diversities can become a boon or a curse for any community or country that depends on the community and the way it manages its diversities. The diversity really helps in deciding the base of any community. It depends on the utilization of the people from different culture. It is obvious in modern world to have people from different culture residing in one community. Whether we consider a country, an organization or a small residential building the differences in culture in single community is called the cultural diversity(Wax, 1995). Understanding culture in more depth Importance of culture Importance of understanding culture in building community What is cultural diversity? Diversity in language How cultural diversity affect community building? Diversity of culture in community boon or curse? Conclusion: A community can consist of people from various cultures and due to different cultures, the diversity in the community is really common that depends on the people, how they manage the diversity in community. If the diversity will not be managed properly, it can make the whole community a curse otherwise it may become the reason of rapid growth of society or community(Lewis, 1995). Thus, this essay basically focuses on the understanding of culture in depth, importance of culture in building any community, overall importance of culture for a community or country, understanding diversity in the culture, diversity in language, impact of diversity on the strength of community and how the management of diversity in the community can decide the strength of community. Diversity can help the community with their positive experience and can even destroy the community by making divisions in the name of culture. Culture is what makes a community or country.
